#2 - The Space Station - Monthly Update

Good day to all, we are back with some more updates!

This month was the time of constructing some ground lore for JICE. This is a necessary step to make sure that any game aspect going forward is connected and has some meaning. It will help us create new levels, characters and entities, while still having a grip on what we already have.

The key element here is the space station. This is the JICE factory that has all the tools necessary to extract and ship this universe’ most valuable resource - sugar. So where do they get this one from? All the candies and confectioneries, of course! Factory workers retrieve various sweets, cakes and other sugar-related products from the nearest planet, and ship all of that to the space station. Here these products undergo some transformation and get reduced to large amounts of high quality sugar.

The factory itself consists of several key sections that the player will get familiar with. Here are some of them:

  • Spaceport. The main entrance for the station’s various shuttles and ships;
  • Storage. This is where all the spaceport cargo would be held, and later transferred to other areas of the station;
  • Living quarters. Favourite place of the station’s robots! Here you can find recharging stations and recreational areas with some fun activities to pursue;
  • Processing department. Here all the sugar is being extracted from the related supplies with the help of various, no doubt humane methods!
  • Control centre. This section consists of numerous consoles that allow workers stationed here to gain full access to the factory’s automated systems;
  • Research and development. Sugar extracting business demands constant progress - and this is where the possible methods of achieving said progress are explored.

Each of the mentioned areas will open up some more insight into the JICE dealings and how the player and other characters fit into all of that.

For now, this is all we wanted to share with you - but it is certainly not the last piece of lore that you’ll hear from us. See you later!
